Dental Care
PROJECTS

In rural Malawi, access to dental care is extremely limited. Many children suffer from untreated tooth decay and oral disease, which can lead to chronic pain, difficulty eating, and long-term health problems. Our Dental Outreach Programme brings vital oral healthcare directly to these communities, helping children stay healthy and thrive.

In 2024, African Vision Malawi, in partnership with the Lilongwe District Health Office, delivered clinics in five underserved primary schools. Children aged 6 to 14 received oral hygiene education, screenings, and treatment. Across the programme, 1,668 children were seen, including 403 extractions and 191 fillings.

To encourage long-term dental care, children also received toothbrushes and hygiene kits, helping them build healthy habits at home. By combining treatment with education, our outreach ensures that children not only receive care today but are equipped to prevent dental problems in the future.
